The Southmoreland neighborhood in Kansas City is the homeland of multiple art museums. Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art are famous worldwide.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

The other museum in Southmoreland is The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. It exhibits arts from almost every culture around the world. The museum has an extensive collection of Asian arts.

Among several collections, the European gallery has the most expensive paintings. It consists of works of famous artists such as Caravaggio, El Greco, Jusepe De Ribera, etc.

In the Asian gallery, you’ll find a lot of Chinese work. It has one of the best collections of Chinese antique furniture. Besides China, the gallery also includes art from Japan, India, Afghanistan, and other Asian countries.

The American gallery offers the work of famous artist Thomas Hart Benton. Though there’s another museum in his name in Kansas City, the Nelson-Atkins Museum has some collections too.

Outside the main building, there’s the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park. There, you can sit and have some good times. If you’re living or visiting Southmoreland, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a must-see location.

Leaving The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, located 4525 Oak St, Kansas City, MO, and driving south via Oat St and then turning westward (right) onto Warwick Blvd, you’ll be passing by Southmoreland Park on your left side. Turn left into E 45 St and you’ll get to the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, located at 4420 Warwick Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64111, United States.

Leaving Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and driving south via E 45 St, and then turning left into Walnut St. You’ll pass by Simpson House on your left. At the end of Walnut St, turn left, moving eastward via E 46th St. After a few dozen feet you’ll get to the Southmoreland on the Plaza – An Urban Inn, 116 E 46th St, Kansas City, MO 64112, United States.

Continuing eastward on E 46th St will get you to Warwick Blvd. Turn right (south) and right afterward, turn another right to get onto the Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd and move westward on it. Turn north into the Main St, and after the next crossing, you’ll reach Cafe Trio, at 4558 Main St.

Leaving 4558 Main St behind and moving north via Main St you’ll pass by Marriott Parking lot on your right hand side. Continuing north, just before the W 43rd St, you’ll reach the Ragazza Food & Wine at 4301 Main St, Kansas City.

Head further north via Main St. When your reach the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Dr, turn left and continue till you reach Broadway Blvd. Turn right and continue heading northwest via Broadway Blvd until you reach W 40th Terrace. Turn left into it and continue for about 200 feet and you’ll reach The Law Office of Micki Buschart at 4049 Pennsylvania Ave Suite 201, Kansas City.
